McGill University - Friends of MSF

Welcome to the Friends of MSF - a student club raising awareness and support for the lifesaving work of Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF).

We are the voice of MSF on campus, working hard to raise awareness of MSF's incredible work. Join us and help organize events, fundraise and speak out on behalf of people caught up in emergencies, disasters and epidemics.

There are Friends of MSF (FoMSF) groups at universities across Canada. It is a great way to meet new people, support MSF and to have a direct impact on their work.

What is MSF?

MSF is an international medical aid organization that sends medics, logisticians and other specialists to help people who have been caught up in disasters, emergencies, wars and epidemics. They work in more than 60 countries.

MSF follows the principles of neutrality, independence and impartiality. This means that MSF helps people in need irrespective of race, religion, ideology or political agendas. They go where the need is greatest.

Another important part of MSF’s work is speaking out about what they witness and what their patients are experiencing. By talking honestly about the realities and underlying causes of crises, MSF seeks to alleviate human suffering and to reinforce human rights.

To be able to work independently, MSF raises most of its funds from private sources. It’s the private donation that keeps MSF’s lifesaving work going – and so efforts by the Friends of MSF truly make a difference and help improve lives around the world.

Supporting MSF

FoMSF supports MSF's work by:

  • Raising awareness of MSF and humanitarian issues
  • Raising funds for MSF
