MSF stages “Human Chain Gallery” on Parliament Hill to call for a stop to the genocide in Gaza
On Saturday, Sep. 20, 2025, Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) will stage a powerful public art action near Parliament in Ottawa to condemn Israel’s genocide in Gaza and calls on the Canadian government to take action.
From 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., up to 100 MSF staff and supporters will form a sombre Human Chain Gallery along Wellington Street. Transforming Parliament Hill into a gallery of conscience, we will hold large-scale photos showing the devastating impact of Israel’s systematic attacks on civilians, humanitarians and medical facilities that our teams are witnessing in Gaza.
Doctors Can’t Stop Genocide, World Leaders Can
Using the power of images to bear witness where words alone fall short, this demonstration urges Canada to fulfil its obligations to stop the genocide being perpetrated by Israel on Palestinians.
The public art action is part of our broader campaign and petition calling attention to grave violations of international humanitarian law in Gaza and other contexts, including in Sudan and Democratic Republic of Congo. In conflict zones around the world, hospitals are being bombed, aid workers are being targeted and civilians are being killed — often with impunity.
MSF is urging the Canadian government to:
- Publicly condemn all violations of international humanitarian law targeting civilians, aid workers and medical facilities when they occur, in Gaza and beyond;
- Impose targeted consequences on perpetrators;
- Halt arms exports where there is a serious risk they could be used to fuel war crimes.
WHEN: Saturday, Sep. 20, 2025 | 1:00–3:00 p.m.
WHERE: Wellington Street (between Elgin Street and Bank Street)
MEDIA OPPORTUNITIES:
- Photo/video access along the human chain gallery.
- Pre-interviews & on-site interviews with MSF staff available (from 12:30 p.m. onward).
