Face-to-Face and Telephone Fundraising
Since 2002, Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) has raised vital funding for our emergency medical work with the partnership of fundraising agencies who specialize in face-to-face and tele-fundraising. Face-to-face and tele-fundraising are among the most effective ways for MSF to raise awareness about our work, connect with supporters across Canada and explain how individuals can help us deliver critical medical care to people facing crises across the world. Our partners are committed to MSF’s humanitarian ethos and campaign on our behalf.
MSF and Face-to-Face Fundraising (F2F)
MSF Canada works with Public Outreach to carry out our face-to-face fundraising campaigns. Public Outreach is a highly regarded professional agency dedicated to building a sustainable charitable sector through ethically and socially responsible methods. They have gone through a rigorous evaluation process to partner with and represent MSF.
FREQUENTLY ASKED F2F FUNDRAISING QUESTIONS
How do I identify MSF face-to-face fundraisers?
You can identify our representatives on the street, at the mall or door-to-door by their branded MSF items (typically a vest, photo ID badge and lanyard) and tablet. They will often carry a laminated brochure or a binder containing our logo and additional information. For security reasons, our fundraisers are unable to accept cash donations and only accept credit and banking information as forms of payment.
Where do your face-to-face staff work in Canada?
We carry out our fundraising activities across Canada and currently have active teams in cities within the following provinces: British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia.
How does your face-to-face sign-up process work?
- MSF canvassers work with digital tablets to securely process donor details and payment information on the spot. This allows MSF to reduce gift processing times, administrative costs and eliminate the use of paper forms.
- The tablets used by our F2F teams are routinely updated, maintained and tracked to keep the gift registration process safe and encrypted. Ensuring the security of your private information is of utmost importance to MSF.
- A receipt of your new monthly or one-time donation is sent immediately upon sign-up to the email address submitted during registration.
- If you have decided to get involved with a door-to-door, street, or mall fundraiser from Public Outreach, your donor and payment details will be requested and input securely on their digital tablet. Your fundraiser will then complete the sign-up process by requesting your signature on their tablet.
- Your F2F fundraiser will complete the gift registration process by sharing the terms of the donation and requesting your signature on their tablet.
- All new donors can expect to receive a confirmation call from our donor care team within 24-48 hours of gift registration. They will re-verify the details of your gift, ask for general feedback about your experience and answer any questions you may have.
- You have the option of receiving phone calls, emails, SMS, mail, or other forms of communication about our work on an ongoing basis.
- All gift processing procedures used by MSF and our partners are PCI compliant. To learn more about how we manage your personal information, please refer to our Privacy Notice at https://www.doctorswithoutborders.ca/privacy-notice/
Do your representatives work on commission?
In keeping with Imagine Canada’s Standards Program and best practices for fundraising, our representatives receive an hourly wage and receive no commission for the supporters they sign up or the dollars they help raise.
MSF on the Phone
Our telephone campaigns provide a safe, simple and fast way for our supporters to get involved with MSF’s work, especially when a humanitarian emergency happens.
