Join MSF in welcoming Little Amal to Toronto

  • Start Date: June 7, 2023, 5:00 pm
  • End Date: June 11, 2023, 7:00 pm
  • Location: Union Station, Toronto

Join Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) on June 7 and June 11 in welcoming Little Amal to Toronto and be part of a message of solidarity with displaced people everywhere. Looking for hope and a home, Little Amal is a 3.5-metre puppet of a 10-year-old Syrian girl who is a refugee and who has travelled over 9,000 kilometres in more than a dozen countries.

In collaboration with the Luminato Festival, MSF is pleased to welcome Little Amal. We invite you to join us and other community partners to walk in solidarity with her. Families with children are welcome.

MSF teams work with people around the world who are displaced at their points of arrival or along perilous migration routes, witnessing firsthand the devastating impact of their situation on their health and wellbeing.

During our solidarity walks on June 7 and June 11, MSF workers will be carrying butterfly puppets as a symbol of migration in support for people on the move around the world.

See the profound effect Little Amal has had on people globally.

At the end of each walk, we invite you to join us at our MSF tent. Come talk with our experienced staff in person and learn more about our medical humanitarian work supporting people who are forcibly displaced around the world.

Create your own butterfly puppet to carry as you walk with us and cover it in messages of solidarity.  You can find here the written instructions and a video demonstration. You can also download the instructions in French here which shows in illustrated steps how to make your own butterfly.
